/ Cemetery

Located at Holy Trinity Monastery are three large cemeteries, with one more presently under construction. Many of the faithful find great consolation in laying to rest their loved ones in the prayerful care of the Monastery with its beautiful and uplifting surroundings. Not only visitors but the monks and seminarians as well can be seen walking in the cemeteries.

The Monastery takes earnestly its duty of prayer for the departed. Daily, at every Divine Liturgy the names of all Orthodox Christians buried here are commemorated.

Friends and relatives of the deceased are always welcome to visit the grave sites of beloved and have a memorial service ( panikhida ), if so desired.

The Brotherhood of our monastery strives also to maintain all other traditional customs of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Only Orthodox Christians are allowed to be buried within our cemetery.

An Orthodox Christian burial service ( otpevanie ) is required at the monastery OR any other Orthodox Church, prior to burial.

Cremated remains are not permitted for burial.

The cemetery is not responsible for any monument which may be harmed in any way. Trees, shrubs are no longer allowed .

Plots must be paid in full, at time of burial.  Owners may not resell  their plots unless granted permission from the monastery in writing.

Concrete vaults are not permitted.

An additional charge for “Otpevanie” or reading of Psalter may occur.

In addition, for your information, as is in many cemeteries, wooden crosses are being phased out, due to gradual deterioration due to harsh winters, storms etc. Gradually, all wooden crosses will need to be replaced. The monastery cannot be responsible for replacement costs.

There are available several monument companies that have now  made available a "economical " granite cross which can be had at very affordable price.

Another option,   You may, if you wish, install a different cross of your choosing from other monument companies.

An additional charge is due, if the funeral service (otpevanie), is held at the Monastery, as is the “reading of the Psalter” overnight.

NOTE:

  1. Only persons of the Orthodox Faith are buried in the cemetery.
  2. Concrete vaults or other containers are not allowed.
  3. The Monastery must be consulted before remains are to be shipped from out of state.
  4. Permission and approval of design must be obtained for monuments prior to installation.
  5. All inquiries concerning funeral and burial arrangements must be directed to the office of the Monastery.
