The actual feast day of the monastery is Holy Spirit Day.  Once again, Vladyka Luke presided at the liturgy, but this time he was accompanied by Bishop Michael of Boston, whose consecration to the episcopate was celebrated only a few months ago.  The church was filled with pilgrims despite it being a work day.  During the liturgy, after the Great Entrance, former seminarian Deacon Timothy Zelinksy was ordained to the priesthood.  Fr. Timothy will be eventually serving in our parish in Albany, NY.

The feast of Pentecost is the altar feast of the Holy Trinity Monastery.  It is always celebrated with great solemnity.  On Ancestral Saturday, the divine liturgy is celebrated in the cemetery chapel of the Dormition, at the end of which a general pannikhida is served in front of the church, during which all of the reposed commemorated in the monastery’s services are prayed for.  

This year the feast of the Lord’s Ascension, a movable feast, fell on the day of the commemoration of the Apostle and Evangelist John the Theologian.  So this great feast was even more solemn with the addition of the service of the holy apostle. 

Terra-Gen Energy, a renewable energy developer, is surrounding the properties of Holy Trinity Monastery and Seminary, a National Historic Site registered on the National Register of Historic Places.

His Grace Bishop Luke returned from the meeting of the Council of Bishops in Munich late Saturday evening, and proceeded to ordain our former seminarian, Subdeacon Timothy Zelensky to the diaconate during the Divine Liturgy.

Ecumenists propose that heretics and schismatics who have separated themselves from the Church have somehow remained her members and that the Body has not been divided. However, it is forbidden according to the Holy Fathers to allow those outside the Church to receive the Mysteries. Any decision contrary to this is arbitrary and violates the vow made by clergy to preserve the Mysteries from profanation. None the less Orthodox clergy are communing Monophysites (Coptic Orthodox and others) without previously separating them from their heresy and uniting them to the Church. 

 Pascha came early this year and is being celebrated with the joy that characterizes Pascha in the monastery.  After the very long and solemn services of Holy Week, the bright and great feast of the Lord’s Passover was greeted by the brethren and seminarians and the many pilgrims of the monastery with great rejoicing.  Thank God, we were able to have our procession once around the church at the beginning of Paschal matins, led by His Grace Bishop Luke.  

​Our monastery has as its main church obedience to serve the complete Typicon of the Orthodox Church, with the daily cycle of services with the completeness of the services.  This is especially observed during Great Lent and Holy Week.  The grace obtained from this cycle of services is boundless and besides filling the life of the monastics and seminarians, it attracts many pilgrims from around the world, who flock to the monastery to be able to live Church life at his fulness.

  Even with the relatively severe winter experienced in our area this year, the pussy willows ripened early, so they were gathered and stored away a few weeks ago.  As has been the tradition for many years, early on Lazarus Saturday, after the divine liturgy, Monk Innocent and his helpers, consisting mainly of seminarians and pilgrims, gathered in the Pilgrim Dining Hall to set up a workshop to arrange the pussy willows and palms for distribution. Some pilgrims come from New York City, especially to be able to take part in this.  

            The monastery celebrated a truly grace-filled feast on March 31, 2026 with the tonsure of four of its rassophore monks to the angelic state and three novices to be rassophore monks.  This followed the serving of the General Unction Mystery earlier in the day, which has become a tradition of the monastery for over thirty years.  Many of the faithful from the area as well as from nearby parishes availed themselves of this wonderful sacrament for healing, both spiritual and physical. 

The monastery hosted the annual Eastern-American Great Lenten Clergy Conference for the northern parishes, March 17-18, 2026.  This was headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, with the participation of His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse, Abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery, His Grace, Bishop Michael of Boston, and Bishop Jerome.  Over 90 priests and deacons were in attendance.

The ancient typicon of the Orthodox Church is what guides our lives.  From day to day, we plan our activities around the feasts and fasts of the Church.  We have now entered into the strictest and spiritually richest times of the  year, the period of Great Lent.

On the feast of the Meeting of the Lord, which this year fell on Meat-fare Sunday, His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, presided at the nomination and consecration of Archimandrite Michael to be vicar bishop of Boston.  

​On this day, February 12 (New Style), in the monastery cathedral was celebrated a truly wonderful feast, that of the Three Hierarchs, Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian and John Chrysostom.  This is the patronal feast of the Holy Trinity Seminary, which plays an integral part in the life of Holy Trinity Monastery.  Together with this, a consecration to the episcopate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia was celebrated. 

On Sunday, February 8, during the  Divine Liturgy, at the Small Entrance, Frs. Spyridon and Michael, with the blessing of our First Hierarch, were raised first to the rank of Igumen and then the rank of Archimandrite by His Grace Bishop Luke, abbot of the monastery. May the Lord assist them on their path to succeed the apostles in their service to the Church.

The evening of February 6th, after the Small Compline service, the abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery, His Grace Bishop Luke, with the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, tonsured to the Small Schema Archpriest Michael Crowley, pastor of the parish of Blessed Xenia in Methuen, Massachusetts.  This is part of the process on the path of his being consecrated to the episcopate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, as vicar bishop of Boston.

The Eve of Theophany fell on a Sunday this year, so the Royal Hours were served Friday morning with no liturgy as according to the Typicon.  On the Eve itself, All-Night Vigil was served as usual Saturday evening.  

There are the foreshadowings of the feast in the weeks before:  the hymns which look forward to the feast.  And then a special canon is read at Small Compline once the Forefeast begins.
