On June 1st was the celebration of the Leave-taking, or Apodosis, of Pascha. His Grace, Bishop Luke, celebrated the divine liturgy early in the morning, along with monastery clergy. During the Liturgy, he ordained seminarian Lawrence Remington from Indonesia, to the deaconate.
At the end of the liturgy, the icon of the Resurrection of the Lord was returned ceremoniously to the altar after the faithful kissed the Cross. This was followed by a procession, led by Vladyka, during which the Shroud was returned to the lower church of St. Job, to the Tomb of the Lord, where it lays during the year. Likewise, the Shroud of the lower church was put away on the Tomb, with the choir singing the troparion and kontakion of the feast of the Ascension. Thus the joyous Paschal period came to an end once more.
