Feast of the Royal Martyrs of Russia
Feast of the Royal Martyrs of Russia

The murder of the Tsar of Russia Nicholas II and his family is a very dark day in the history of Russia.  However, out of their deaths came great spiritual gains for not only Russia, but for all of the Orthodox world.  They truly offered their lives for the future rebirth of Holy Russia and for the expiation of the sins of the people.  As the years go by, more and more people, not only in Russia, but from all over the world, come to participate in the divine services in Ekaterinburg on this day.

Here in our monastery, where the memory of the Royal Martyrs has always been zealously kept, we had the All-Night Vigil and Divine Liturgy as usual, presided over by His Grace Bishop Luke with the clergy of the monastery and seminary.  There were those in attendance who were given the names of the martyrs, the Royal Family and their martyred helpers, at baptism and at their monastic tonsure.  These people were congratulated by Vladyka.  Through the prayers of the Royal Martyrs, may the long-suffering Russian land persevere in holy Orthodoxy and remain once again a land of many churches and monasteries, through the prayers of all of the New Martyrs of Russia.
