EAD CLERGY CONFERENCE

The monastery hosted the annual Eastern-American Great Lenten Clergy Conference for the northern parishes, March 17-18, 2026.  This was headed by His Eminence Metropolitan Nicholas, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, with the participation of His Grace Bishop Luke of Syracuse, Abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery, His Grace, Bishop Michael of Boston, and Bishop Jerome.  Over 90 priests and deacons were in attendance.

Clergy began to arrive on the eve of the conference, on Monday, March 16th, the anniversary of the repose of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Laurus, for whom a pannikhida was served that day after lunch.

On Tuesday, there was a very interesting and timely speech, presented by Archimandrite Peter from the Cathedral of Joy Of All Who Sorrow, located in San Francisco, bishop elect for the Western American Archdiocese.  The them idea of his speech was that no reforms in our liturgical practices are needed.  There was also a question-and-answer period provided for the clergy and seminarians with the participation of our bishops.

On Wednesday, all assembled as well as local clergy, prepared to concelebrate the Presanctified Liturgy with our hierarchs.  The cathedral was filled with our guests as well as many of our neighbors and pilgrims.  After a morning of the complete Great Lenten services, culminating in the compuncionate presanctified liturgy, there was truly a spirit of brotherly love and repentance reigning in the church.

We thank the Lord for the opportunity to provide a venue conducive to separating oneself from worldly cares and to perhaps more completely delve into the penitent nature of the Great Lenten services so that our beloved clergy may more completely prepare themselves for the great and bright feast of Pascha and strengthen themselves for their future spiritual struggles.
