Nativity of the Theotokos

The first feast of the Church Year is the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos.  This is very apt since her birth is, as the troparion of the feast states, the beginning of the construction of our salvation.

His Grace Bishop Luke of Syraucse and abbot of our monastery, presided at the Polyleos during the Vigil of the feast and at the Divine Liturgy on the feast day itself.  During the hours, Vladyka tonsured the seminarian Peter James, a third-year graduate student, to the subdeaconate.  After the consecration of the Holy Gifts, Vladyka ordained to the deaconate the graduate student from the Philippines, sub deacon Romano Regalo.

We congratulate both our seminarians and pray to God that He will strengthen them in their desire to serve Christ’s Church and its faithful.
